Looking at the differences in Porth Harbour between 2000 and today, we see there has been quite a transformation. From the images of the map, we can see that the harbour has undergone a lot of changes that have led to it being a more tourist-friendly spot. The primary contributing factor to this transformation is the conversion of the unused castle into a hotel. The nearby beach has also been converted into land for the private use of hotel customers.
Aside from the hotel, other development has also been conducted in the harbour to make the location more appealing to tourists. We can see the development of cafes and shops along with more sanitary facilities to increase the convenience of the location for prospective tourists. To make travel more convenient, an additional dock has also been constructed to increase the frequency of passenger ferry operations.
Finally, we can see that the docking area for the fishing boats and private yachts have switched places. Presumably, this is due to an increased demand to dock private yachts in the marina.
