The maps illustrate the South Wing of Walton Museum in two years (2008 and 2012) after it was rebuild. Overall, the museum experienced significant transfirmation, turning into a more visitor-friendly and entertaining area. The major changes include the consturtion of new facilities, such as children play area terrace and others. Though, these changes came at the expense of stairs.
In 2008, the South Wing of Walton Museum was simple. On the first floor, people could find a special exhibition room in the left-hand corner, while a shop was located adjacent to it. There was a cloaks room in the right-hand corner, and stairs were situated between a shop and cloaks room, which were led to the second floor. Whereas an enterance, a reception and reading room were located above the special exhibition room, shop and cloaks room, respectively.
Turning to the year 2012, the special exbition room and shop were maintained, the enterance became an enterance hall and the reception and cloaks room were combined into one area, situated above the shop. A terrace and restaurant were built on top of the enterance hall and reception-cloaks room. Where the stairs used to be, there was now lift, from first floor to fourth floor. The cloaks room was demolished in order to made way for a consturction of a children play area. A self-service room was located in third floor, below which was a reading room. In fourth floor, exhibition room was constructed.
