In recent times, the healthcare system has heavily relied on government funding to improve the standard of living among people. There is a view that the government should allocate money to prevent individuals from facing health problems, as this is considered more crucial than spending on treatment and medicine. While I believe it is more important to invest in the promotion of preventative measures, I also contend that discovering treatments also relies deeply on public investment, which contributes significantly to the overall well-being of the population.
On the one hand, governments should focus on the prevention of health issues. Many people are unaware of the side effects of leading an unhealthy life style, often characterized by a diet rich in fast food and soda. If governments were to invest money on establishing awareness-raising campaigns that inform people about the downsides of unhealthy diet, the risk of facing health problems such as obesity and heart related illnesses would be reduced. This approach not only prevents people from encountering health problems but also encourages people to become more physically and mentally healthy, ultimately enabling them to lead more fulfilling lives.
On the other hand, government investment in discovering ways to cure illnesses is of great importance as it might eradicate potential sufferings and prolong life expectancy among people. There are a number of incurable diseases, including cancer and diabetes, that lead to premature death. If governments invest in conducting research to find cures for such diseases, physicians are likely to discover treatments that allow patients to fully recover and live longer. Investments in curing illnesses undoubtedly help people lead healthier lives.
In conclusion, although I argue that government funding is more necessary for the prevention of health issues by raising awareness about the consequences of unhealthy food choices, I also believe that governments should allocate money to discovering treatments that provide an opportunity for more people to live longer.
