Everybody has the duty to preserve the environment from pollution, not only governments or well-established businesses. In my opinion, I totally agree that we are responsible for maintaining a healthy and clean surrounding, although governments play a vital role in saving the environment.
The main reason why I agree that protecting the environment lies with individuals is that we can make a significant difference through our daily actions. This means that people can follow some good habits, such as recycling waste materials, using eco-friendly products, or taking public transportation. For instance, widespread recycling programs in Japan succeed mainly because citizens actively participate. As a result, Japan has become one of the cleanest cities and is a pioneer in the field of renewable energy research, which plays an important role in maintaining the environment.
The other reason is that when individuals take responsibility, they can inspire others and create a culture of environmental awareness. By a small action from individuals, it can influence families, schools, and other people to follow a sustainable lifestyle. For instance, school programs in Vietnam where students clean up their neighbourhoods help raise awareness among both children and parents. Over time, these small habits grow bigger and have a significant positive effect on the environment.
In conclusion, individuals must take responsibility for keeping the environment clean because our actions directly affect the planet and can encourage others to do the same. Only when everyone takes part can we build a cleaner and more sustainable world.
