Education has changed significantly over the years, adapting to the demands of the modern world. Today, many schools offer a combination of curricular and extracurricular activities. With the pressures that come from academic responsibilities, it is essential for children to find a balance between various subjects, investing effort where it matters most. Despite some truth to the emphasis on academics, I tend to disagree with the notion that only academic subjects lead to success.
Extracurricular activities provide substantial benefits not only for children but also for their parents and teachers. Many students enhance their skills and hobbies when they engage with these activities. Furthermore, it can be quite challenging for students to focus entirely on traditional subjects because children often struggle to absorb large amounts of information; they need breaks to recharge their concentration.
Focusing solely on essential subjects while neglecting others is not a recipe for raising successful children. When students are required to juggle both academic and artistic subjects, they often become distracted, diminishing their effectiveness in the core subjects. For instance, after a drawing lesson, students may find it difficult to process new information in the next class. In today’s world, it is crucial that children study scientific subjects to prepare for a future that demands a generation adept in these areas.
To address this dilemma, I propose that we create a balanced approach that includes rewarding students with certificates for excelling in scientific subjects alongside recognition for their participation in various activities. This strategy would motivate students to focus on essential subjects while alleviating stress and revitalizing their enthusiasm for learning. Ultimately, schools should prioritize equipping students for the modern world while also nurturing their individual talents and skills.
