As the police officers investigated, the primary reason was the failure of the machine to open their windows. Furthermore, they cannot be used in certain areas. In many developing countries, they have several flooded areas with severe conditions, resulting in a quarter of the cars being submerged and having a chance to short circuit to their drivers. This puts them in dangerous situations, where they have a high risk to die because of the short circuit.
