A role model is way more crucial in your future than the knowledge you have acquired in school. It may sound illogical, however the skills won’t be forgotten, unlike knowledge usually is. I partly agree and here is why. Since our birth we look up to our parents, learning everything from them, how to behave, how to do basic things, what they say, and some small details. They are getting into your head and it would be problematic to change your patterns. On the other hand, at school you not only acquire knowledge, but also simple communicative skills. How to make friends, how to deal with conflicts, and how you’re being in society. It all affects and contributes to the future.
I must say, due to the equal significance of both role models, we can separate them and link them to a specific time in the lifespan. First – childhood – your role model is your parents. Second – school – society and in some cases teachers.
Parents teach you how to live and make your first steps, which they will support you throughout your all life, yet the first challenges you confront appear at school, where you learn specific skills, that will definitely be helpful in the future. All of the life experiences matter and leads to what person you are in the future. A lot of facts influence, such as the environment, friends and your personality. Role model of parents and the role of society impacts differently, but equally. Your future is not only under your control, but also the surroundings.
