It has been shown that the number of people living in large cities is increasing even more than 20 million city developers in any city. I believe that this is a negative development for some reasons.
Growing in the number of people residing in big urban places leads to traffic jam. This is because people use their private cars or other public transportation like buses, undergrounds, to travel to reach their destinations which results in congestion. This is ever seen clearly at peak times of a day. Take Hong Kong as an example. It takes around half an hour for the Chinese to commute from home to their workplaces or study on a daily basis.
Overpopulation in megacities causes the depletion of natural resources. The government must supply all its citizens with basic needs such as food, housing, and healthcare. This in turn requires a great deal amount of money. To meet their needs, the government uses more resources to construct buildings, hospitals. This all leads to the reduction of precious resources. New Delhi, for instance, has already exploited over a quarter of its fuel to satisfy its citizens’ needs for transportation.
In conclusion, I believe that the larger number of people living in big cities is a change for the worse as it brings negative repercussions such as traffic congestion and the reduction of natural resources.
