Nowadays, it is thought by many people that the most determining factor of shopping habits is age. This statement fully aligns with my point of view because young people are more likely to be swayed by advertisements than older ones and older individuals tend to prioritize quality over quantity.
First and foremost, young generations tend to be influenced by advertising, which leads to buying products impulsively compared with people of older ages. Young people spend a lot of time on social media, where advertising is promoted. For instance, dubai chocolate has gained popularity for a small time due to social media hype. This has created the feeling of missing out, since they have been pressured to buy the chocolate quickly. Meanwhile, the older generation has more life experience and is better at recognizing marketing tactics, because their critical-thinking is more developed. That is why instead of chasing trends, they are more careful in their shopping choices since they prefer to research and compare products before purchasing.
Furthermore, people of older ages are more likely to prioritize quality over quantity compared with younger ones. Whenever older people buy products they usually check ingredient lists or research to ensure that the products meet their health and safety requirements. Instead of buying products impulsively, they think about long-term benefits. It is well known that the majority of older people pay attention to food labels in order to check the quality, nutrition and ingredients of the product while younger ones might be drawn to eye-catching packaging and brand. Hence, older consumers are more responsible during shopping since they choose quality over quantity.
In conclusion, younger consumers are more likely to be swayed by marketing tricks and buy goods impulsively, while older ones tend to do research and check ingredient lists before shopping. I believe that shopping habits depend on people’s age.
