The diagram below depicts the proportion of the population by age grades in a single town in 2011 who rode bicycles.
Overall, the diagram shows five age grades ranging from 0 to 60 years involving different age ranges in each group and a percentage of the population for females and males. As a result of this, females have the highest cycle percentages and male have the lowest percentage in all the age groups. The highest age grade population ranging from 0 to 9 years, includes the proportion of females who cycled more than the males, thereby, giving a 51.4% and 50.3% proportion respectively and a 1.1% difference. Whereas, the lowest age populace were the 40 to 59 class of individuals with females having 12.3% usage and males having an 8.0% usage of the bicycles. Ages 10–17 shows that it had the second highest percentage for both females and males with a 42.2% and 24.6% involvement respectively.
However,there was an increment in the use of cycles by females as compared to males between 18-39 and 60+ age groups of individuals. For example, the females had a slight difference of 1.0% between the two aforementioned age grades, with 17.1% and 18.5% usage respectively. While the males had a 1.7% difference between those age groups with 9.7% and 8.0% usage respectively.
