Nowadays, the number of people working in traditional ways has been decreasing day by day because more people tend to work as a gig workers. From my perspective, this surge can have both advantages and disadvantages for employment and society.
On the one hand, the gig economy is a type of job market in, which employments often work with short-term contracts. This has changed several things in favor of individuals, for example, the number of job opportunities has been increasing and people can manage their own working hours schedual, which bring them accessibility and convenience. Additionally, thanks to the advancements in technology and the digital world, people can work as freelancers globally. This not only promotes higher chances for employees to work for various businesses but also aids them to have more free time led them to grow personally and professionally.
On the other hand, this surge has several drawbacks that lead to traditional way of working being outdated. This means that individuals have to struggle with competitions in the job market all the time, and they mostly cannot become financially stable because of their short-term contracts and lack of jobs in some situations. Furthermore, freelancers don’t have the privileges, such as health insurance and paid vacation days. Therefore, the gig economy sometimes can lead employments to experience stressful situations and as a result, they feel job insecurity and anxiety.
In conclusion, although collaborative economy might be more convenient for people, I believe we should not forget our traditional ways of working because of the aforementioned benefits. It is more logical to have a strike balance between traditional and modern way
