Since the invention of the internet in the late twenties, the relationship between people has changed considerably. Some people are of the opinion that the internet brings positive effects, others are reluctant about this. However, I partially agree with this point of view.
Social networks such as WhatsApp and Facebook are becoming an integral part of our daily life. These have contributed to an increase in online face-to-face interaction among its users. It has many advantages, such as the possibility to be in contact in real time with friends and family all over the world. Additionally, it also allows people with different backgrounds to share their personal experiences or even discuss important topics like climate change and other issues in the spotlight at the moment. These interactions create sympathy for other people who are less fortunate and subsequently enrich personal growth. However, I believe electronic media can also be detrimental if they are not used properly. It can create division and harassment online between its users. For example, people who are commenting online can be rude and bullying towards others. Furthermore, using online networks to communicate with each other’s daily lives can lead to anti-social behaviors in the long term. This type of communication reduces the social ability to interact in real life communication.
In conclusion, electronic media have brought many advantages to our daily lives by providing instant and easy ways to interact with all people around the world, which is a positive thing. Nevertheless, it is important that these networks are used in a balanced way in order to minimize their negative effects, like bullying online and the ability to interact in real conversation.
