Band 5+: There has been an increase in the ownership of vehicles over the years giving rise to traffic congestion and high level of pollution. To overcome these problems, people should be persuaded to use public transport. What are the different ways people can be motivated to make use of public transport?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

In today’s world, as population is increasing day by day more people want to buy their own vehicles. More private vehicles means more pollution and more traffic jams which can adversely affect the health of people. So to avoid these problem we have to motivate people for using more public transport.

There are many ways to motivate people for not using their private vehicle, amongst these ways the most important way is to bring an awareness among the people regarding the harmful effect of the pollution. For example: by using more vehicles more fossil fuels are burning which is leading to global warming. Due to global warming the environment is losing its ozone layer which protects us from the harmful radiation of the sun, these can lead to various harmful health issues such as cancer and etc. To avoid these we can organize various camps or we can use social media by telling people the importance of using public transport.

Another way is by increasing the number of public transport vehicles with providing low cost of tickets. If government gives some concession on tickets then people will use more public transport. Increasing the facility in public transport will also motive people to travel by public transport. For example: the government has announced 50% concession on the tickets of females with age less than 80 years and free travelling through public buses for age greater than 80 years. Due to these many females have stop using their own vehicles.

To conclude, using public transport will benefit both people and the environment. By giving proper facility, low ticket price, increasing more public transport, introducing new schemes and etc, will help government to make more impact on public. But all of these is based on the government’s action how they motivate the people to use the public transport.
