People may have different perspectives about the length of work time they want to commit. Some who are considered as Millenials or the generation after it, they lack of desire to work in the long term. In contrast, they, who are aged 45 and above or so called baby boomers, have a mindset that allows them to work in the same job for a long time, as they believe it will result in higher salary or job promotion.
Firstly, for Millenials, many factors can affect their way of thinking about work especially in this globalized era. They tend to want to have freedom, because of that working in short period of time or flexible working hours excites them. Moreover “work-life-balance” trend also influence them to find a job that won’t affect their health or happiness. Also they believe that being stuck in the same career won’t help them to have bigger opportunity to grow.
Secondly, as for baby boomers, they are more likely into the same job throughout their lives because doing the same task over and over will reduce stress due to work since they already familiar with the job pattern also for the risks that may come. For instance, my father and grandfather have been working in the same field since I was a child. Therefore they have more stability in life.
In a nutshell, different views of working time shouldn’t make us feel overwhelmed. In my opinion both of these are able to bring us into a better life
