Nowadays, many students struggle to focus and concentrate in their classes at school. This essay will examine the underlying reasons for this issue and will suggest some constructive solutions for the same.
One major reason why many children find it difficult to pay attention in their classes is because they spend a lot of time engaging in short form content. In recent years, Social media platforms, television shows and cartoons are designed in such a way that children stay glued to their screens watching shorter duration content mindlessly. Furthermore, parents encourage this behavior by giving mobile phone or TV screen to their children while eating their meals so that they can avoid their sulking. To bring a solution to this, parents should limit their children’s screen time and encourage activities which expand their attention span and concentration. For example, parents should make sure that their children are devoting time to activities such as reading, writing or sports which provide real dopamine instead from that of digital media.
Another contributing reason for this problem is diet. Children nowadays consume processed packets and sugary beverages which directly impacts their focus and memory retention. Many recent studies show the direct correlation between diet and concentration. Eating packaged and high calorie snacks cause hyperactivity and may lead to symptoms of other disorders such as ADHD and dyslexia. Parents should strictly make a healthy diet plan for their children including healthy snacks and fresh fruits and vegetables to keep them refreshed and limit the consumption of packaged food.
In conclusion, many pupils find it difficult to pay attention in school because of increased screen time and additives from snack. However, parents can prevent this by engaging their children in mindful activities and providing them a healthy diet.
