Live performances such as concerts or shows nowadays are more and more popular among ages, especially the younger generation, but many people prefer watching these performances at home via TV or computer than attending in person. Though this trend has certain drawbacks, I would contend that it can confer greater benefits overall.
On the one hand, watching online performances comes with certain disadvantages. One prominent disadvantage is lack of event cost. When organising one event or show, organisers need a large amount of equipment, requiring much money to pay for them. Not having many spectators, these concerts or shows don’t have enough money to operate, which they would suffer heavily and may affect on most employees. In addition, engaging in performances through screen cannot fully replicate the atmosphere, energy and excitement at a live venue. Moreover, attending concerts or shows in person often serves as a social activity, allowing people to bond with friends and meet others with similar interests. Watching alone at home may reduce these valuable social interactions.
Despite these drawbacks, the benefits from this action are more substantial. One significant advantage is affordability because attending live concerts often involves transportation costs, ticket costs or accommodation, which takes much money to meet the demand. This is particularly difficult for individuals who are low-income. If they stream online platforms, they will watch at a lower cost, making the access easier. Another potential advantage lies in convenience and affordability. By attending in person, many people must travel a long distance and queue for tickets, challenging for those who have busy schedules or live in rural areas. Therefore, watching performances through TV or computer becomes comfortable and saves time, playing an important role in accessing in light of pause videos or rewatch their favourite moments.
In conclusion, although watching live performances at home may lack the immersive atmosphere and organising cost, I believe that the convenience, affordability and wider accessibility offered by digital platforms make this trend a practical and inclusive way for people to enjoy live entertainment in the modern world.
