I believe the positive of this trend like reduction of transport cost, also easier means of communication far surpasses its drawbacks such as creation of gap in family relationships.
On the one hand, one of the demerit that has resulted from people dependence on phones is that it affects family relationships. This development has made many persons not to travel to see their old parents because they think they can just talk to them through calls but this can not be compare to the bond that exist among loved ones who see each other physically. For example, most elderly ones prefer to have a facial conversation with their children as this give them an opportunity to be in company of those that are close to them.
On the other hand, from my point of view, the merit of this development are more than its downside. Firstly, this has made communication among distant relatives alot easier. The reason for this, is that people can send and receive messages from the comfort of their homes and this do not take time. For instance, many years ago , people used to write letter and go to the post office to send them in order to communicate with their families and this usually take days to weeks before they are delivered but today this stress has been removed as individuals can make video calls to their loved ones at their own convenience. Lastly, saving of transportation cost is another benefit of this trend. One do not has to spend money on paying drivers or buying fuel before he can relate with friends and other important persons in his lives. Owning to the fact that they can speak with these people on either Whatsapp or Instagram.
In conclusion, I will say that the use of handsets and internet are very vital and have more advantages because they make passing of information among people better and faster, additionally lesser money is spent on transport. Nevertheless, a major disadvantage of this, is that it prevent individuals from seeing each other physically.
