Migration of more and more people is becoming a popular trend in the growing nation. Most of the people move away from their native regions where their entire growth and upbringing is related. This is due to people seeking more job opportunities, better quality of life, other resources, and family situations. There are both advantages and disadvantages to this phenomenon.
On the positive side, this leads to growth of many smaller town into metropolitan cities. It causes rise of urbanization. Following that, the population density evens out throughout the land mass. This causes introduction of more upgraded facilities such as housing, entertainment, etc. In terms of positives for the individuals, they gain appropriate opportunities and contacts of a wider spectrum of people. This enriches their professional as well as social life. The individuals also gain a sense of independence by moving away from their comfort zone.
However, their are several drawbacks to this phenomenon. The place from which people migrate loses its manpower and society. With lesser population, it may even lead to particular culture and traditions extinction. There will be unequal growth of areas in terms of infrastructure due to increasing population at a more favored place. On a individual basis, the people may feel lonely and isolated in a new environment. Some of them may find it difficult to adapt to the conditions of the new area. This may lead to lowering of self confidence, self esteem, and erosion of identity.
As a conclusion, I believe that the disadvantages do outweigh the advantages. Furthermore, this situation could be improved but balanced availability of facilities and infrastructure. This kind of migration is recommended for people who are highly confident and willing to survive in any kind of situation.
