Band 5+: These days, we are seeing an increasing amount of violence on television, and this is having a negative impact on children's behaviour. Do you agree or disagree?

Nowadays, rising of broadcasting cruelty on tv can influence detrimentally on juvenils’ attitudes. I strongly agree with this statement since children who watches these types of shows tends to be more barbarian to the environment and normalise the violence such as bullying.

Firstly, the main reason why I agree with this statement is that young aged people are becoming merciless to their surrondings after watching such media on television. For example, there was held an investigation between two kids, one of them only had watched cartoons containing educational information and the other one had only perceived the animations related to brutality such as war and fight. In this research, special puzzles and boxes were put in front of them and asked to solve the puzzle in order to get the prize inside of the box. First kid rectified the puzzle patiently , won the award and expressed his thanks. However, the second child refused to solve the exercise and additionally, he wanted his gift. Neverthelles, interesting point was that he even was not satisfied with the prize. According to this survey, it is obvious that there is a huge gap between these two kids in terms of behaving which is caused by the contents on television.

Secondly, as the violation on the media is on the increase, children are going to normalize the brutality in their interpersonal relationships. For instance, bullying is pioneered as a result of watching these sorts of TV shows. They tend to demonstrate acquired behaviours directly on the others, showing abusive attitudes towards their friends, parents and even people they are not familiar with. From my perspective, restrictions such as limiting some harmful programs must be applied on the televison, on the contrary, the media which is better-suitted for children should be spreaded in all open source platforms.

To conclude, displaying non-restrictive harmful contents on the television contaminates the children’s actions. Therefore, it is crucial to be more selective on choosing the shows that children are permitted to watch.
