There are lots of activities that a teacher can integrate in teaching that helps every learner to develop their abilities, skills, and even talents. Some uses puzzles, board games, and pictures in class to introduce new lessons and skills.
As a primary teacher, I want my student to experience experimental learning. I highly believe that through learning by doing, learners will easily acquire new lessons and skills. Conducting hands on experience will help learners to assess what they already know.
In addition, I also want to maximize giving collaborative task in my class. Allowing our learners to work in group to accomplish a given task will help them develop their social and communication skills. Also, critical thingking among learners will be developed because group work requires brainstorming. I also believe that through this, learners will have the chance to get to know more about their classmates and to strengthen their relationship with peers.
Aside from these, I will offer individual activities among my learners for them to be accountable of their own understanding. This will be helpful for the teacher to check the level of understanding of his or her learners. It will also help us to determine the learning gaps among learners and to plan for applicable intervention.
Lastly, I will practice the concept of rewarding system in my class to encourage my learners to strive in school. When the learners are rewarded not only through materials things but also by words, they tend to be motivated and show interest in class. Giving feedbacks about their actions or outputs would be a great help to boost their confidence. I believe that by doing the above mentioned will help every teacher to elevate learners’ academic performace. Thus, life long learning will take place even after class hours.
