Leadership Skills
During my film journey through in Myanmar, I’ve been experienced all kinds of problems and unexpected challenges while we were working on tight deadlines and under pressures. Here, I would like to mention about one challenge that I’ve been experienced during my commercial short film project.
As a producer, director and writer of this film, on the last day of our filming, we had experienced a big challenge and unexpected problem in location. We all were ready to go to this location to shoot the importance scenes of the film for the last day. At the time, the staff from the government office phoned me that our permission was canceled. We all were like “Oh Gosh’ ‘So I said to my team to stay calm down and I’ll find a solution for this problem. We don’t have next day. But I feel it’s an opportunity to show my creative, leadership and professional skills.
So I made a quick decision. The opening scene and ending scene of the film were happening in this location. It’s important for my film. I rewrote the script without changing the original tone, mood, theme and colors. I told the location manager to look for another location which closely enough the same with former location. Luckly, we found a perfect and suitable location near us. We went there, checked in details. After this, I drew storyboard and send it into Facebook group. We had a meeting and explained to change and put creative production design, costumes, colors, camera angels, lightings and moods. Finally, nothing was changed tone, colors and theme with original script. After doing some rehearsals could filming perfectly. We did it.
In this case, I realized that filmmakers must have adaptability leadership skills and communication skills to make a quick decision to solve unexpected challenges in production.
