Band 6+: Throughout the history, people dream to live in a perfect society while they haven’t agree how the ideal society would be like. What is the most important element you think to make a perfect society? How do people do to achieving an ideal society?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

As we move forward, some people continue to dream of a utopia where they can leave in the paradise promised by many religions despite debates over whether this long-awaited dream can even come true, as well as how people are able to pursue this ideal society of it is not far-fetched.

As far as the concept of utopia is concerned, one specific topic is more heavily discussed: a perfect law system makes a perfect society. Only when people observe their actions have consequences, whether fines or incarceration, do they attempt to abide by the law. As an illustration, the so-called philosophical concept of ‘do no harm and no harm comes to you’ is regularly discussed in academic lectures aimed at explaining the perfect law. Moreover, a flawless law system would be non-existent if the main pillar was neglected: equality at the court of law. To elaborate, when people are ensured that no amount of political or financial pressure could circumvent regulations and rules, they are more favorably disposed towards abiding by them. Overall, under no circumstances would citizens collaborate with each other to create their desired versions of societies unless the issue of being exploited by a select few is overcome. Justice could achieve that in an otherwise impossible manner.

By making politicians and governments accountable, people can navigate towards a justice system designed to judge people based on their actions, not their race, wealth, nor incentives. If accomplished, this agenda is bound to not only forge laws that are tailored to their designated societies, instead of manipulating them in favor of a few, but also ensure that they are not bent nor disregarded. Donald Trump, the former US president and a billionaire, could serve as a testament to this notion when he have faced multiple charges such as ransom and blackmailing even after years of denial and tampering with the related evidence. This could show us why Americans take pride in their judiciary system, which has shown it is always backing its innocent citizens all otherwise claims notwithstanding.

The bottom line is that although people do yearn for utopias, they are now living far from it. If we set aside our differences, and instead demand a lawful society from lawmakers, our once dystopias would change for the better.
