In this day and age, although the technologically advanced applications and features benefit humans’ life in every aspect effectively, we still give artists high evaluation. In this essay, I would explore the hidden value to life that can be only interpreted by arts, not science or technology.
It is true that many pieces of art, especially paintings, or sculptures which always hold artistic values, often have very complex details in surfaces or a gradience of colours. Furthermore, arts have the ability to express people’s conscious mind, as well as their love, fear or other emotions. As a result, when it comes to science and technology, which are created to do repetitive tasks and manual work, it often fails to completely capture all these values of emotions, process and experiences, making the arts look more dull and uninteresting.
On the other hand, arts also bring the connection and a sense of belonging to community. Through sharing typical music, pieces of art or cuisine, people from all around the world are able to acknowledge different types of culture and language, which inherently enhance cultural exchange among humans. For example, the experiences of seeing a concert directly and watching it in front of a computer have some distinct characteristics. In the concert, there are other fans that stand one idol, and people can immerse themselves in the exciting and enthusiastic atmosphere while seeing their idol performs on stage, this sense of emotion cannot be achieved by digital devices and technology.
In conclusion, the benefits of science and technology are undeniable as it improves our quality of life, the arts provide unique perspectives by humans that cannot be replaced comprehensively.
