Band 5+: Today more and more people are using mobile phones and computers. Thus, people are losing the ability to communicate face to face. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Nowadays, the increase in use of mobile phones and computers is making people lose the ability to communicate face to face. I totally agree with this assertion because using electronic equipment excessively can affect communication skills of people and make people rely on them.

First of all, the rise in using mobile phones and computers could negatively impact on people’s social communication skills. This is explained by the fact that when people use electronic devices frequently, they would set a list of online friends, and they would no longer stay connected with their friends in real life. They would spend less time on physical conversations. As a result, they would lose the ability to communicate face to face. For example, nowadays many teenagers have more friends on games or media platforms than they have in real life.

Furthermore, people are becoming more addicted to smartphones and computers. On mobile devices, there are many convenient features which attract users. For instance, they provide users webs and apps to communicate remotely through message or voicemail. These make the need in communicating face to face decrease, because people can chat with others whenever they want at wherever. As a result, when people use mobile devices for a long time, they would rely on it to communicate instead of taking conversations in person.

Inconclusion, I strongly agree that people are losing the ability to communicate face to face due to using mobile phones and computers excessively which has a negative impact on people’s communication skills and makes people depend on their mobile devices.
