In recent years, there has been growing dabate about whether using smart phone devices will cause people to lost the ability to communicate directly. I partly agree with this view because it can reduce communicate face to face, although it also provides people with convinient ways to connect with others.
First and foremost, technology can reduce the amount of face to face interaction. This is because people can easily contact through social media, such as text messages or video calls, instead of meeting in person. In other words, when a person familiar texting to maintain relationships, they may have less scheduled time to meet in person, which reduce the amount of communication in person in daily life. For example, many young people prefer sending messages to their friends rather than meeting them face to face. As a result, they have fewer opportunities to communication directly.
However, I do not complete degree that the widespread use technology necessarily causes people to lose their communication skills. The main reason is that people still need to communicate face to face in many situations, such as education, work, family and social activities. This mean that, in real-life situations, direct communication is more effective because people can observe the body language and immediate reactions of others. For instance, staff need to meet with colleagues and communicate directly with customer even though they use computers for the majority of their work. As a result, regular exposure to real-life situations helps people maintain and practice direct communicaton skills.
In conclution, I partly agree with the statement because using mobile phones and computers may reduce face to face communication, but they can also support direct communication.
