Band 8+: Today more and more people are using mobile phones and computers. Thus, people are losing the ability to communicate face to face. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

It has become increasingly common for people to rely on mobile phones and computers in recent years. As a result, many individuals are losing the ability to communicate effectively in face-to-face situations. I agree with this viewpoint, as overdependence on technology can make people less socially active and may gradually undermine their confidence and self-esteem.

On the one hand, one of the main reasons I agree with this view is that excessive use of digital devices leads to a sedentary lifestyle. When people spend long hours in front of screens, they tend to become physically inactive. As a result, they may lose opportunities for meaningful face-to-face interaction, particularly among young people. For instance, many children prefer playing video games such as PUBG and Mortal Kombat, often spending entire days engaged in them. Consequently, this can make them more socially isolated and less active.

On the other hand, another reason I support this view is that excessive screen time can undermine people’s self-esteem. In particular, social media often exposes teenagers to unrealistic standards, leading them to compare themselves with others. As a result, many young people may feel less confident about their appearance and abilities. This can gradually make them more socially withdrawn and less willing to engage in real-life interactions.

In conclusion, although mobile phones and computers have become an essential part of modern life, their overuse can negatively affect face-to-face communication. I strongly agree that this trend is harmful in the long term, as it contributes to a sedentary lifestyle and lowers individuals’ confidence and social skills.
