In recent times, the increase in the sale of consumer items depicts the power of advertisement but the goods sold are not really needed to society. I stand with this statement.

Today, in the world of business, marketing is one of the best suitable way of selling goods to consumers. In older era of society, goods were produced according to the need of customers but today buyers have variety of options which different price and quality. Car used by a consumer is in best working condition but due to advertisement of new attractive sporty looking car he will get attracted to it and will plan to buy that car. So, in this scenario consumer is already having one but due to attractive advertisement he wants it. So, there is vast difference between wants and needs. To illustrate, according to the Times of India report 60% of consumers reported that they buy only branded product which are higher in prices because it makes them look rich.

The social media also contributes in this market; the brands use celebrities and big personalities to make advertisement and broadcast it on media to make people interested in buying that product. The companies manipulate the mind of buyers and their sentiments. The needs of consumer can be resolved by unbranded product, but marketing and advertisement levels make them to buy brands. To illustrate, according to the survey of Consumer Committee of India, the 70% customers know the product only by its brand not quality and 60% of them seen that product on advertisement.

To conclude, while agreeing with the statement sales of goods reflects the power of advertisement which are not the real need of the society. Consumers need to understand to avoid these trap.
