Band 4+: Today, the high sales of popular consumer goods reflect the power of advertising and not the real needs of the society in which they are sold.To what extant do you agree or disagree?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Viewed from a broad perspective, it is commonly true that advertisements can cause more sales, so this creed has meant that some of the products which are shown, are not really part of the necessary goods of society and it means the power of advertising on people decision. This essay aims to explore the impact of different kinds of advertising.

When it comes to advertising, there has always been one of the most noticeable ways to simulate the public mind for purchasing a product. There are numerous kinds of advertising, namely, on television, radio, via social media and so on. In my opinion, there is no difference between them and their purpose is the same, that is to persuade people to buy unnecessary stuff. In fact, they try to pretend their companies produce according to the demand of people.

Secondly, after a person saw the advertisement on television, for instance, it was about a waterproof shaver, decides to buy it for when he is taking a shower. On the other hand, advertising can be beneficial such that people watch advertisements and compare them with each other, eventually choosing the most suitable one.

In conclusion, as previously highlighted, advertising, in any form, has both positive and negative consequences. Therefore, it is imperative for people to pay attention to shows and not spend their money on useless things.

Most products nowadays are sold based on their popularity and marketability, as opposed to the true needs of the consumers, which reflects the immense strangle-hold of advertising. In the cutting-edge digital age, product advertisements are becoming more and more commonplace in vast media.
