Nowadays, a significant number of children are being raised by their grandparents as parents are too busy with work. I believe this situation impact the entire family because it can reduce the emotional connection as well as it can lead to the stress and health problem for grandparents.
One of the main reason is that children may not feel close their parents. When parents spend most of their time working, they have less chance to talk, play, or share important moments with their children. This can make children feel lonely. For example, in Sri Lanka, many parents work long hours in cities, so kids often stay with their grandparents in rural villages, which can reduce the parents-child relationship.
Another issue is that grandparents can become tired and stress for taking care of young children. Many grandparents are older and may have health problems, so looking after active children every day can be very hard. For instance, in coastal towns like Galle and Trincomalee, grandparents often manage fishing related works at home while also take caring after young children, which makes their daily life very tired.
In conclusion, having grandparents raise children can create problems for the whole family. It can less the bond between parents and children as well as cause difficulties for grandparents. Therefore, parents should try to spend more time with their kids and share responsibilities to create strong family.
