In recent times, most of the childcare is done by the grandparents, as parents are busy in their professions. While this trend has some positives, I believe negatives cannot be overlooked, which affect a whole family adversely.
The main benefit of raising children by grandparents is that they may learn life lessons from their exceptional experience. They can teach them various stories, such as fairy tales and fiction, which may help toddlers acquire knowledge of moral and cultural values, resulting in becoming better people in life. For instance, children listen to the stories from their grandmothers at night to go to sleep. In this way, they can learn the ethical values, including patience, love, and care.
However, bringing up children by grandparents may not always have positive outcomes. Firstly, it may happen that the strong relationship between parents and children cannot be built, as most of the time is spent by toddlers with grandparents. They may love to stay in their company instead of parents, which may result in stress and anxiety between the whole family. Mental wellbeing is also disturbed.
Furthermore, if children are raised by grandparents, then parents may not know the basic needs of children, such as what they eat, which games they prefer to play, and what kind of stories they love to listen to.As a result, it may be difficult for parents to take care of children in the absence of their grandparents. Ultimately, weaker parent relationships.
In conclusion, although taking care of children by grandparents teaches toddlers the moral and ethical values, issues such as weaker parent-child relationships and difficulty in managing the needs of children may not be neglected.
