Nowadays, men’s sport is more popular and widespread than women’s sport, and TV channels tend to give more attention and time to men’s competitions. There is one firm reason why men’s sport shows are more prioritized, and TV channels probably should keep this system.
In the past, women hardly had any of the rights that they have today. Women could not afford themselves to compete in sports and create a permanent job from this activity. In fact, only men were able to participate in different teams and tournaments, so they initially had more experience and opportunities than women. For decades, men honed their sport skills, while women could only spectate. As a result, today, men’s sport shows are still more popular and obtain more funding from governments.
Despite everything, women’s sport programs have many viewers in countries like France and Spain, and these shows gain attention not just from females but also from males. However, men’s sport is still more competitive and fascinating, it gets more appreciation from the world’s audience because people are used to choosing it over women’s sports. Hence, it might not be a clever decision to give more screen time for women’s sports when they do not receive as much attention as men’s sports. Women’s sport system is less developed and tends to be less ideal, while men’s competitions are thought to be more valuable and gather millions of spectators every year. So, it is better to leave the modern system.
In conclusion, women’s sport shows gain less showtime because of historical factors that have accompanied it since ancient times, but TV channels should continue to give more screen time for men’s sport due to its entertainment.
