The widespread problem of TV shows preferring to cater to men’s taste instead of women’s has long been a major topic of concern in society. This essay will explore the reasons behind this trend and suggest measures that media can take to remove sexual discrimination.
Reasons for this alarming situation vary. One of the main reasons why women’s shows is less is gender differences. For instance, comparing to male-oriented like soccer and basketball, which have the larger number of fans, female-oriented such as yoga and body building exercise do not need too many spectators.Additionally, it is the lack of promotion of positive effects of sports for women that is to blame. To be specific, advertisements often shows the strong men with masculine figures and robust muscles, ignoring that the women also can have perfect bodies through fitness. Moreover, females may not consider doing some sports to build their bodies, which decreasing the female involvement.
Considering equality and culture, I agree with TV channels should balance the proportion of various sports.Firstly, television shows are not only for particular people, but also belong to all citizens. Moreover, mass media as public facility should meet different tastes, in order to improve the satisfaction of public and remove sexual discrimination. In addition, leveraging mass media to promote advertisement of women exercise and highlight benefits of sports can help women foster a sense of awareness of confidence and robust their bodies.
To conclude, it is clear that different gender and the number of spectators are the major catalysts for television’s preference. However, citizens have right to require the equal amount of sports shows for both gender.
