Nowadays, many individuals believe that tourism has only positive aspects and provides understanding of different cultures.However, I disagree with this statement, because of environmental damages to local areas, and negative economic impacts to the citizens of any country.
One of the problems that tourism creates is pollution and damages to local landmarks. For instance, one of the most popular cities of the world is Paris, and the city is full of garbage and its river is heavily polluted. As a result, the most visited city in the world is also the most polluted city in Europe. Similarly, other popular destinations such as beaches and national parks often suffer from contamination.Therefore, many tourists often ignore preservation of the environment and not doing anything to help with it.
The other issue is about economic aspect, for example, locals do not always make profit. The government makes millions of dollars every year from tourism, and sometimes the people do not get any facilities or have not seen any improvements in their locality. For example, in Kazakhstan we have a very well known place for tourists named “National Park Burabay”, and the prices there are exorbitant for our people and not everyone might afford a vacation. Even though the prices are expensive, the area still has not seen any establishments. So, sometimes tourism has an adverse impact on local people.
To conclude, tourism has many negative sides to a country, with problems such as pollution and negative economic aspects. I disagree that tourism has always been a force for good.
