In many huge cities the problem with road congestion and worsening air quality are increasing throughout the years. There are some causes and solutions that can be implemented to prevent these problems and protect society from dangerous emissions and heavy traffic.
The main cause of the traffic congestion problem is an increase in the use of private vehicles. In the modern world, the population of many cities has increased significantly. Creating new families, couples strive to have their own cars, to be independent and to be able to move through the city freely. Should every family buy at least one vehicle, and the road congestion becomes an inevitable problem. As a result, at rush hour, when everyone is commuting, they have to wait hours in traffic jams. If the government invested in a public transport system, commuting conditions would be better and people would be able to get to their destination faster. Moreover, this improvement will help to reduce car emissions, making the air quality better.
Air pollution is another significant challenge. Producing different garments, factories create enormous quantities of industrial waste. Moreover, a huge amount of production remains unused and has to be recycled. For example, millions of tonnes of second-hand clothing cannot be reused. To recycle it and make new materials factories have to process them, using different chemicals, disinfectants and dangerous for the environment methods. As a result, more and more fumes and fog are being released into the air. The best solution that the government can implement, is building recycling centres with strict waste disposal rules in remote and deserted places outside the cities. It will help to avoid pollution and recycle more waste without harm for the environment.
In conclusion, the main causes of increasing traffic congestion and air pollution are overpopulation and insufficient emission control. The government should take measures and implement strict recycling rules to protect the environment and allow people to breathe freely.
