Band 5+: Traffic on roads has become a problem in nearly every country in the world. What can be done to reduce the amount of traffic at a society level and at an individual level?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

One of the major problems in every country in the world is traffic, people get exasperated because of facing this issue on a daily basis and at the end of the day wasting their valuable time stuck in traffic. Fortunately, this problem can be solved if there are more public transports, resulting in less number of vehicles on the road and another solution can be, if people can carpool, walk and reach their destination or even use bicycles, will overall help in the reduction of traffic.

Increasing public transport options will not only encourage people to travel via public transports but will also result in less traffic congestions. An increase in metro stations and subway stations, etc, will connect the city better making it possible for people to commute effectively and avoid taking their cars out and adding on to the traffic. For instance, many developing countries like India, have constructed metro stations which have drastically cut the traffic down, as people are choosing to travel via the metro to avoid travelling by road, avoiding traffic, saving time and to save money.

Likewise, citizens can also contribute to lowering the levels of traffic by being more aware, if their destination is at a short distance they should walk instead of using a vehicle, furthermore they can use bicycles to travel this not only will reduce the amount of traffic on the roads but will be more affordable for the individuals. Additionally, people should switch to carpooling if they are going in the same direction, for instance, if there are employees from the same country living in the same area they should carpool to and from their workplace.

To summarise it all, by effectively using these solutions in our day to day lives on a society and individual level will heavily add on to benefit the society by controlling the traffic and helping commuting from one place to the other in being smooth, fast and cost effective.
