I strongly agree with the statement. Having an equal number of male and female students in a university for every subject should be accepted worldwide. Expanding our knowledge in any field should never have a gender barrier. Irrespective of an individual’s gender, he or she must be given equal opportunities. Universities are places to glow.
In many parts of the world, people still have a notion of gender discrimination. Some countries are even now ruled by patriarchal societies. They believe that when a girl is given equal acceptance, the boys are deprived of opportunities. I belong to an Indian society. Taking an example from my own country, different states in India still do not provide the necessary education to their daughters. Few universities have limited seats for female candidates to give more opportunities to the males. Even now, few backward-class people practice female infanticide. Families still prefer sons to daughters.
On the other hand, certain universities consider an equal number of seats for both male and female students. Even today, most cities and towns do not favor either gender. Instead, they feel an individual should be chosen based on his or her ability and skills, not gender. It brings a more sophisticated work environment with a mixture of ideas and techniques. The strength of a man and the sharp mind of a woman can do great wonders.
In conclusion, more universities should accept students irrespective of their gender. As correctly quoted, ‘An educated son can run a family, whereas an educated daughter can run a whole nation.’
