It has been a debatable matter whether the same numbers of both genders should be enrolled in university. I disagree that universities should consider the equality of acceptance rates because it can limit the fair competition, and some fields of studies are likely to attract one gender over another.
When universities try to equalize the acceptance of students based on genders, unfair competition is bound to occur. This can happen due to the fact that universities will try to select students based on numbers rather than their expertise and abilities. As a result, it leads to the extraction of suitable applicants over unsuitable ones in order to fill available places with equal numbers of males and females. For example, sports schools usually accept more males over females because first gender is physically capable of doing more than others. Otherwise, sports fields would possibly be filled with incompetent experts.
Moreover, it is claimed that some specific fields of studies generally attract one gender more than others. Some particular jobs are more female- or male-centered, which makes them exceptionally suitable for one gender. For example, being a qualified pilot requires a great matter of hard work and skills, and this occupation is more male-centered. Thus, equalizing the number of pilots based on genders is unlikely to happen.
To conclude, accepting the same amount of students depending on their genders is not a rewarding idea because it can create an unfair competition between both genders. In addition, some occupations are more suitable for a specific gender over another one.
