Band 6+: University education should only be offered to the most academic students, not a large majority. To what extent do you agree?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Tertiary education is asserted to be mandated to the most academic pupils rather than for all. This essay totally disagrees with that statement, citing: this phenomenon triggers discrimination in type of students, thereby confronting challenging tasks of competence in the contemporary era.

On the one hand, higher education is essential for the whole society, especially students. Thus, there would be an unfair treatment among the younger generation, if attending chances to universities were just offered to the most academic pupils. Furthermore, it would lead to the fact that students could not approach to the educational system and could not be able to explore themselves thoroughly. For instance, pupils who belongs to ethnic minority groups, don’t have many opportunities to get into college, although they completely concentrate on their academic work. Moreover, there is a disputed assumption that students in urban area cheat on most of their exams and it will not be equivalent to other pupils.

On the other hand, it cannot be denied that there are many students who have good academic results and it will be beneficial for their future applications. Furthermore, it would be advantageous for them if they were well- prepared prior to attending university. However, those points just made up a small figure in many inferior aspects of this phenomenon. Some pupils have a good sense of interpersonal skills, so some of whom find difficulty in expressing themselves in academic area. For example, in the modern world, high- school education strives to create and develop many extracurricular activities in order to not only encourage students to take part in and be more active, but also help them to gain experiences from these practical activities.

In conclusion, this essay totally disagrees with that notion and tertiary education is still a necessity for pupils to discover and develop themselves. Besides, it would not be any contradicting point of view if students were given equal opportunities to get into college with their competence.
