Band 5+: Using a computer everyday can have more negative than positive effects on young children. Do you agree or disagree?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Many people hold the view that utilizing computer excessively can pose detrimental impacts more than benefit effects on children. I am strongly agree with the first opinion because of the reasons below.

First and foremost, prolongeed use of computer can place health deterioration on children. This is attributed to the fact that computer’s screen and release a wide range of bluelights which exert a deleterios impact on children’s eyesight as well as physical health. As a result, children are likely to be vaurable to various problem such as: respiratory, blindness or spinal disorder, this is a disastrous damage to them especially at a very young age. For example, a recent study by Hauston’s university found that every month a hospital receive more than 50,000 cases related to the effects of sitting with long screen time with bluelight’s. Thus, this example clearly debunks the idea that utilizing computer every day can cause health ramifications.

Primarily, overuse of computer can be at the expense of interpersonal skills. This is tied to the reason that children virtually spend their most of the time online which hardly for them to have a chance to interact with others. This can lead children to social isolation, or maybe cause anxiety, autism and even depression, making them more inactive. For example, the New York Times reported in April 2012 that the rates of children who join outdoor activites have fallen by 20%, and can be even worse in the future. Through this lens, it is understandable that children spend time mostly on computer can be evoted socializing skills.

Summary, overuse of computer can trigger to children’s physical and mental health more than benefit them. Parents, teachers, and goverment play a vital role in this issues, they should encourage children to use technology effectively for educational purposes while also participate in physical activity, creativity and social engagement.
