To enhance safety on our streets , there is the single option is to give much stricter punishment for driving offences. While this approach may have certain benefits, I believe that more comprehensive measures are required to address the problem effectively.
First of all, it is obvious that making rules can prevent people from breaking the law. When drivers are aware that offences such as speeding, drunk driving, or using mobile phones while driving may result in heavy fines, they are more likely to obey traffic laws. For example, in many countries, stricter laws against drink-driving have led to a significant decline in the number of road accidents. Moreover, large fines directly affect people’s finances , force them to think twice before breaking rules again. As a results, increasing punishment can contribute greatly to improve safety.
However, implement harsher penalties is not the only possible remedy. To begin with, traffic education is equally important cause many accidents occur due to lack of awareness and poor driving skills. Government should tighten driving license requirements to ensure that drivers are more responsible. In addition, poor infrastructures should be improved can reduce accidents considerably. Road with clearer signs, better lighting, and separate lanes for different vehicles help drivers travel more safety.
In conclusion, although implement harsher penalties are effective method of declining driving infractions, i do not think that there is one solution to handle this problem. Besides that, they should be combine with education and infrastructure improvement to achieve better road safety overall.
