It is true that we are living in a throwaway society, many individuals tend to use things in shorten time and then trashing them. This is result of some economic issues. Throwing items away like this can cause some health problems and traditional skills.
There are some primary factors for this phenomenon. Foremost, in this day and age, many manufacturers often design products with a limited lifespan, encouraging consumers to replace items rather than repair them. This improves sales and profits for manufacturers. For example, phones are now being made with less durability than before. Old models like the samsung hero, could survive from thrown down multiple flights of stairs, but newer phones can break with just a fall from table. Another culprit for using items in shorten time is that in some cases, cheaper production methods make it more cost-effective to buy new items than repair or refurbish old ones. For instance, the cost of new laptop can be cheaper than repairing old one.
As a result, this action contributes to pollution. The more things being thrown away the more trash there is on our earth. Having an enormous amount of garbage is a waste of space and can harm the environment. To remove trash, we have to burn them. The burning of trash emits greenhouse gases, such as carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, which leads to global warming and threating human life and other living things on our planet. Additionally, as disposable goods dominate, traditional skills like sewing, carpentry and electronics repair become less common. This leads to diminishing craftsmanship. For example, the fashion industry has shifted toward fast fashion, where clothing is produced quickly and cheaply. This has diminished the skills of tailoring and mending, as many consumers often choose to buy new garments rather than repair.
In conclusion, both manufacturing products with limited lifespan and buying new items by cost-effective that are economic benefits contribute to using short term products. This action results in environmental and social issues such as health problems or diminishing traditional skills.
