In the modern era of industrialization, air pollution has been an important issue. Industries and vehicles with combustion engines are the major contributors to pollution.
With the increase in population and the standard of living, people have started using technologies in their day-to-day lives to make it more convenient for them. One of the daily use things is a vehicle. Daily use of combustion engines which run on fuel like petrol and diesel releases a lot of harmful gases into the atmosphere. Few of the gases that are lighter than air, go to higher altitudes and affect the ozone layer and the depletion of ozone starts. Other gases that are heavier or equal to air stay at a lower level near the surface, and we tend to breathe the gases. It then affects the lungs of people.
Another major cause of the polluted air is industries. In the factories, there are a lot of processes that require the burning of chemicals and releasing harmful gases into the air. Since they do not have any specific channel to release the byproducts, it is directly released into the air. Now the gases released by factories are more dangerous than the gases released by cars. The fuel that is used in cars is much more refined than the chemical processes that happen in the industries. Industries and factories burn raw chemicals.
To address this issue, a lot of solutions can be implemented. One of the major steps taken by the government is subsidizing electric vehicles. They are much more affordable than the diesel/petrol vehicles. Additionally, policies can be formed for industries or factories to clean the environment according to the release of their waste which causes pollution.
To Conclude, it has to be a wholistic approach with the government and the people to reduce pollution.
