In recent years, many people emphasis on the outer appearance while designing a building. While it is an undeniable fact that enhancing the aesthetics look of any building is crucial to trigger the urge of visitors to explore it further. I personally agree that it is imperative to prioritize the intended use while designing some buildings such as schools, hospitals, and malls as it ensures the best use of the infrastructure and simultaneously ensures the safety of people using them. Therefore, I firmly agree with the statement that contemplating the intended use of buildings serves as an important factor when the building is designed.
To begin with, it could be fascinating for people to provide a better outer look to their houses, and industries but at the same time there are some buildings of prime importance, which should be designed specifically keeping in mind, the intended use of buildings. For example, educational institutes, hospitals, and administrative buildings intends on the public services, so while designing the foremost factor to be taken into account is the infrastructure that facilitates numerous facilities. For instance, while constructing school buildings the design of classrooms and playgrounds, the needs of differently abled children should be considered to promote inclusive learning. Moreover, while designing hospitals every minute detail, which facilitates patients should be given preference when designing such as ramps should be provided along with stairs.
On the other hand, it is equally important to consider safety parameters while designing as it would seem senseless to construct a building with mesmerising outer appearance which is a threat to the safety of people. The industrial hazards in the states such as Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and Tamil Nadu serve as saliant examples to support this notion. Another stark example is based on the result revealed by the research based on the inspection regarding safety parameters, according to which 80% of man-made disasters are due to the negligence of safety parameters while designing the buildings. Hence, it should be the key consideration irrespective of the outer appearance of the building.
In conclusion, the intended use of buildings should be given more preference. In my opinion, it can be crucial to provide a better outer look to buildings but it should not be at the expense of safety and useful facilities otherwise it could lead to damaging consequences.
