Band 6+: When we meet someone for the first time, we generally decide very quickly what kind of person we think they are and if we like them or not. Is this a good thing or a bad thing

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

We usually meet people for the first time, sometimes in a company meeting, friends gathering or blind meeting. There is a lot of impression developed after the first meeting. Opinion about this person character and however we like or dislike them are built after the first meeting.

In one hand there is an idiom “First impression last forever” so during the first meeting some start to build there overall view from the way you talk, share information , sense of humor, education level, career path and future plans.

On another hand First impression can be misleading. Sometimes in first meeting, people tend to show the great side of there character, share irrelevant information’s especially if it’s a blind date.

Based on my experience, Few years ago at the beginning of my career I was full of dedication and enthusiastic about building a career in digital technology. I have got the opportunity to work in one of the leading companies in Egypt. I have been talking to the CEO over linkedIn. During our first meeting, we agreed on company future career development in Europe and he expressed a huge faith on me, salary negotiation went very smooth, further more I have been promised a managerial role in the next year. As a result I built an extraordinary consumption about the ceo and the company but unfortunately after 6 month lots of hidden attitude arise and nothing i have been promised have been fulfilled.

In conclusion, I believe quick decision is a bad thing so that I advice you to be very caution on building a constructive opinion during first meeting, give yourself sufficient time and listen carefully.
