Some people believe that not only the media, but also public opinions and attitude are being controlled and there is only few measures can be implemented to change this. I partly agree with that statement, due to the reasons discussed below.
On the one hand, media owners can influence information presented. Moreover, when the sources are not verified, the publications can seem biased and distorted. By sharing biased news all over again media try to shape people’s opinion to make them think as the government requires. Some publications are being done to grab society’s attention and hide more vital affairs. Furthermore, media promote a particular ideology, which helps to control society.
On the other hand, influence society can be more challenging than it seems to be. Modern people have access to different sources of information and can compare them. The free media often exposes realistic and factual information independently and unbiased, that people can investigate the truth. Critical thinking also reduces the impact of mass media. When a someone is exposed to a number of controversial facts, they may feel the need to distinguish between reliable and unreliable information.
In conclusion, media publications have a real impact on society, their behaviours and attitudes. However, if people believe only verified sources of information and distinguish between truth and lie, media won’t be able to affect their mind that much.
