In many cultures, an increasing number of people are opting to live on their own. The general reasoning behind this lies in the delay of a partnership in order to focus on education or building a career, also the dissolution of a partnership and the death of a partner. This essay will examine the benefits and drawbacks of living alone and provide a logical conclusion.
The two main advantages of a solitary lifestyle are freedom and an increased pproductivity. Firstly, individuals acquire the ability to be in control of their choices. This way, they won’t need to compromise or justify what they want in order to take into account other people’s preferences, such as playing games until midnight or listening to music out loud.
Secondly, by living alone, one has to do practically everything by himself and this gives a positive sense of responsibility, which someone who lives with family might not have because chores are divided between family members.
However, single-person household equals a higher living costs since one person has to pay for all of the utilities and rent by himself. What’s more, is the inevitable wave of loneliness as you are lacking immediate support from family and friends.
To conclude, although solitary living has certain setbacks like loneliness and higher cost of living, it has an extremely positive impact on someone’s life which cannot be overlooked. Thus, I believe that these benefits outweigh its drawbacks.
