Many people claim that eating habits of residents of the UEA have changed in a negative way. In the past they preferred to eat farm-to-table wholesome food, while in the present more and more people tend to consume unhealthy one. There are several reasons why there has been an upsurge in fast food; this phenomenon has a rather detrimental effect on human’s well-being as well.
To begin with, globalization and breakthroughs in technologies are key drivers of this shift. Countries all over the world share their traditions and experience. Convenient and fast food, which came from the USA, was embraced in many nations, including the UAE. Moreover, the UEA is a very developed country with a great competition on the market. Therefore, companies try to produce customer-appealing tasty food by using modern technologies, which reduce expenses and save a lot of time, in order to increase their income. As a result, there are many frozen pizzas, crisps and sweets in supermarkets and fast food restaurants which are in high demand among Arabic people.
Obviously, excessive fast food causes many health problems. Firstly, it leads to obesity because of a surfeit of cholesterol contained in fattening products. Moreover, because this king of food provides a cheap dopamine rush, individuals become addicted and develop more severe problems with health. Cheap dopamine also leads to decreased motivation and unexpected mood changes.
In conclusion, adopting traditions form the USA and industrialization were resulted in many human beings from the UAE having unhealthy diets which put their health at a high risk.
