Band 5+: With the rise of social media, people are increasingly exposed to idealized images of beauty and success. How does this exposure affect individuals' self-esteem and mental well-being? What steps can be taken to mitigate the negative impacts of social media on mental health?

It is clear that cosial media became unseperared part of our world. Beautiful picture of other’s lives is causing people comparing yourselves with this people and losing self-confidence trying to reach something what is impossible. For reducing impact of the social media on their mental health people should limit the time they use this apps and filter the content they watch.

Unrealistic portrayal of instaworld (or other social media platforms) negatively affects individuals’ self-esteem and mental well-being. First, influencers try to make picture that usually called “succesful succes”, where all they achieved looks like something natural. So young people in their 20s and 30s start to wondering what are they doing wrong and why their lives look mieasible compared to others. An another good example of fake illusion made by social media is idealisation of relationship between couples, friends or family members. People usually post the happiest moments of their live, but it doesn’t mean that they didn’t have any conflicts with close people. However, sometimes their followers start to believe that all people live in fairytale except them. Therefore, comparing themselves to the others and self-blaming for not succesful enough live may cause self destruction.

People should control the impact of social media in their lives for avoiding problems with mental health. Firstly, the time spending in this platforms should be redused. How less time you use this apps, so less they can affect you. Exept to wasting time looking at others lives people should focus on themselves and work hard to build life they dream about. Secondly, what we watch is as important as how long time we watch. Main goal of social media was communicating with people. However, we spent more time following celebreties we don’t even know. Therefore, choosing to follow people you know and people who can give you useful information not just beautiful photos can escape you from illusion.

In conclusion, nowadays social media became one of the main reasons of mental issuies and people can save themselves from these problems by using less social media and focusing in real life.
