The empowerment of women and their leadership become non-negotiables in the striving for a more equitable and fair society. The young people are making the best of these times and setting the pace by being the main advocates for gender equality and the increasing numbers of women in leadership. This essay states how empowering women, the contribution of young people toward advocating this cause and the use of technology, education, and innovation as tools for social change are the most important aspects to shift the society. I am of the opinion that having studied software engineering at the undergraduate level, the digital revolution is what presents the greatest chance to empower women, and thus to make the youth the future leaders.
Empowerment of women is all about giving women the same opportunities, resources, and decision-making power as men have. From this perspective, leadership implies an active participation of women in political, economic, and social space. Studies have proven that if leadership is gender-diverse, it results in better decision-making and economic performance, as well as a more cohesive society. Nevertheless, despite progress, women worldwide struggle with discrimination, economic inequality, and a shortage of women leaders that are synonymous with systemic threats jeopardizing women in the globe.
Youth often are the driving force for turning the tide of movements for social change. The most productive initiatives have been taken by the youth such as grassroots mobilization, mentorship programs, and advocacy campaigns that have broken stereotypes and called for gender equality. Their intervention with social media, education, and entrepreneurship activities has sensitized people and caused real changes as regards the establishment of a space where women can be part of the process.
