It is often argued that to success in life the only thing is needed is to work hard. I completely disagree with this statement, mainly because the success require consistency and people often set unrealistic expectation of themselves.
One key reason why working hard is not enough to become successful is that to achieve something in life the consistency is needed. This is because people can work hard only few hours, putting not enough attention to their goals and forget them in the other days, while consistency require detailed attention and daily feedback. As a result, people may accomplish their goals time to time, strengthening the dicipline and reducing the risks of burnout. For example, many sportsmen and coaches do not recommend to do exessive exercises at once as it may lead to instant burnout and further laziness. Meanwhile, doing regular physical activities three times per week could maintain the overall well-being of human and improve productivity. Thus, consistency is a crucial key to success.
Another reason for this view is that working hard can result in setting unrealistic expectations. This is because many people to succeed in certain area of life, could set a large amount of unattainable goals in the short period of time, which is then become impossible to complete. Consequently, people become disappointed by the complexity of tasks, which may lead to the problems with the self-esteem. For example, many artists and creative people in order to create artwork or innovation, they work long hours, brainstorming different ideas and sacrifice sleep, eventually get depressed due to failure to achieve unrealistic goals. Thus, people tend to set unachievable goals, expecting success.
In conclusion, i strongly disagree that working hard is the only way to succeed, mainly because consistency as well as discipline are more important and people create unrealistic expectations.
